Victor L. Kovner, MD FACP

Dr. Kovner is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and holds a Certificate in Hospice and Palliative Medicine from the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.  He has 25 years of experience in hospice and palliative medicine and has been the Medical Director of Hospices from 1984 until 1996.

He has been a member of the cancer pain team at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and a pain consultant to the AIDS Healthcare Foundation.  More recently he has been a Senior Consultant to the Tri-City Medical Center Hospice.

Dr. Kovner has a special interest and years of experience in Palliative Care which is a medical specialty devoted to relief of suffering caused by major illness and its physical, psychological, social and spiritual elements.  Palliative Care includes family and care-givers in its supportive role.

You and Dr. Kovner will explore your understanding of your illness and your preferences for treatment. Dr. Kovner will focus on relieving discomfort. He may advise consultation with a mental health professional, a social workers and your religious or spiritual resources.
